Metropolitan Sustainability

The last few decades have witnessed a rapid rise in the global population leading to serious problems that are interconnected. The increasing demand for resources, biodiversity loss, energy crisis, and pollution are direct consequences of one another. The year 2020 is battling with a serious global crisis, COVID-19 that swept across the globe killing a million and crashing the world economy.

The need to achieve sustainability in an urban environment has never been more important than today. Sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The concept of sustainability is based on three pillars-economic, environment, and people are also known as profit, planet, and people.

Therefore, the management of sustainable issues requires planning at every stratum of society. The urban population needs to be more involved in this. The urban crowd because of living a fast-paced life often promotes serious environmental damage that in turn affects their health. Metropolitan sustainability now requires more attention. Strategic planning at the community level is essential. People are moving towards a more indigenous way of living. The use of non-biodegradable kinds of stuff needs to be restricted. People need to focus on organic buy. A consistent check on energy consumption is essential. A drift towards a sustainable healthy lifestyle is required.

The fashion industry plays a huge role here. Several fashion brands and fashion boutiques are drifting away from fast fashion towards eco-fashion. The sustainable clothes bought by urban fashionistas have an impact on the customers who are now preferring indigenous lifestyle. Sustainable fashion buy is paving a path towards a sustainable eco-friendly urban lifestyle.
